Its a weird name, but its services are for the future. Today most gadgets around the home can connect to the internet and here is where the internet can become more insecure, with baddies having more chances to get into your home network the more devices you have.

Zobi the hedgehog is a gadget that will make your home network more secure from outsiders. It has a unusual shape like it name but that’s the beauty of it ( or lack of for some).
What it is – is a smart firewall that specialise in IOT tech ( internet of things). say you got a smart fridge that’s connected to the internet , or a smart light that’s connected to the internet.
In short what it does is Protect the entire home network and all IoT devices – from phones and fridges, PCs, speakers, webcams and nanny-cams, to tablets and Smart TVs
This device will monitor the internet traffic that these devices uses and alert you of nay suspicious activity, so that you can have a closer look and block or fix it if needed.
You may ask why the weird design and looks for this gadget, I guess it takes the looks from the name the hedgehog (check animal picture below) and the features from what the hedgehog does is –secure itself from enemies by having prickly pines that protect it from tis enemies.
How does this device work
- You can connect Zobi Home Intelligence enabled device to your home Wi-Fi network or directly to the modem/router.
- The device captures and anonymises home network data and sends to Zobi AI cloud for analysis.
- Users are alerted to suspicious activity or devices via any Home Intelligence compatible device or app .
Future product launches include ‘baby Hedgehogs’ which create a WiFi 6 mesh covering the whole home, whilst smart packet shaping technology prioritises connectivity to work devices to avoid bandwidth being used on streaming services, gaming consoles and other non-essential home devices.
The Hedgehog device and its annual subscription is available to pre-order now via the Hedgehog website at an RRP of £249. The price is in Pounds, thats approx $459 AUD which could be said to be a bit steep.
Monthly subscription costs for essentials begin at £3.99, family cover at £4.99 and £9.99 for the gaming edition.
The only concern some users may have is all your internet traffic getting shipped via internet to a third party to analyse the threats from your home network traffic.
The reason why these kind of devices are essential is that hackers today are increasingly targeted internet connected devices to get access to your passwords and home networks.
